The challenges faced by Mercer’s 25,000 clients don’t fit neatly into any one category, and neither do our 20,000 employees ... we like it that way.
At Mercer, we pride ourselves on having a diverse and inclusive culture, where different perspectives - professional and personal - are respected and welcomed.
At Mercer, diversity means:
Accountability. Mercer fosters an inclusive culture that elevates our people to the highest level of performance and engagement by drawing on their different personal characteristics and life experiences. Harnessing the diverse backgrounds, experiences and approaches of our people isn’t just a business necessity- it’s the right thing to do.
Opportunity. Mercer will ensure an environment where all employees have an equal opportunity to contribute to the firm and progress in their careers.
Success. Raising the diversity, inclusion and cultural competency of our organization is key to our success. Diversity enriches the solutions we bring our clients, helping to achieve a more balanced vision and platform of success.
Engagement. Mercer offers innovative approaches to working that support our employees and strengthen our competitive advantage.
Diversity is one of our values, and our diversity efforts center around our commitment to our employees, to our clients and to the communities in which we work.
Our clients expect innovative solutions to their most complex business challenges, and it is through our collective diversity that we are able to offer an unmatched array of products, solutions and advice. Mercer places a premium on diversity of approach, ideas and viewpoints. The diverse background of our 19,000 employees in 41 countries provides our clients with the answers they seek.
Mercer draws on employees’ different personal characteristics and life experiences to create an environment in which employees can thrive and contribute fully to our shared success.
Flexibility and growth opportunities
As an employer of choice, we take pride in providing flexibility and opportunities to our employees. We offer employees a comfortable work environment and alternative work arrangements so they can grow professionally, enjoy their work, and balance their personal and professional needs.
Ongoing employee learning opportunities
Mercer offers employees a variety of diversity resources and learning opportunities, such as workshops and online courses, to promote awareness of diversity issues and increase competence in identifying, understanding and addressing those issues.
Mercer’s employee networks represent various communities within our employee population. Network activities focus on fostering understanding and inclusion in the workplace and providing a means for employees to interact and exchange views. The networks also strive to enhance the professional growth and development of their members. Externally, the networks work to strengthen corporate citizenship and build ties to the communities in which our company serves.
Women's network: Mercer sees championing the growth, development and success of our women employees as critical. The women’s network focuses on internal networking, career development and leadership progression, business development, mentoring, and work/life balance.
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) network: Mercer’s LGBT network is committed to ensuring Mercer is a place where everyone – regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identification – has an equal opportunity to succeed. The network focuses on talent acquisition support, cultural transformation and community engagement. The group also sponsors LGBT-related events for employees nationwide and participates in a variety of volunteerism efforts.
Racial and ethnic diversity (RED) network: The RED network works to attract people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and ethnicities to Mercer, and then supports their career development and success. The network focuses on mentoring, cultural awareness, networking and business development.
Employee networks are created by and for employees. New networks are established as interested groups present a business case for their purpose and demonstrate that their proposed objectives will support inclusion and diversity at Mercer.
